VFA-122 is the West Coast strike fighter demo squadron. They are stationed at NAS Lemoore, CA. The squadron will have jets fly out to air shows to demonstrate the power of the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet; which is the Navy's best fighter aircraft currently. This squadron was formed in 1999, and was the first squadron to receive the Super Hornet. As with VFA-106, instructor pilots are the ones who fly the demo missions.
I have had the privilege of seeing the squadron fly on many occasions. They are very impressive, especially when they perform high speed passes where the aircraft almost breaks the sound barrier. Pilots are not allowed to actually break the sound barrier because the shock wave can break windows, set off car alarms and frighten people who do not know what it is. If you ever have the chance to see either VFA-122 or VFA-106 fly, I highly recommend it.
Below is a video and some pictures of the VFA-122 Tac Demo.
