The Blue Angles are the Navy's aerobatic demo team. The team was formed in 1946 to promote Naval Aviation, show off the skill of Naval pilots and to help with recruiting. The team is based out of NAS Pensacola, FL. As Naval aircraft have progressed, so have the aircraft used by the Blue Angles. They will usually fly the best fighter the Navy has at the time. Currently, they fly F/A-18C Hornets. They use the Hornet verses the Super Hornet because the Charlie model is smaller, and can therefore turn tighter to perform acrobatic maneuvers more efficiently.
The team also has a Marine C-130 Hercules nicknamed "Fat Albert" which also takes part in demonstrations; as well as transporting show materials and maintenance equipment. The Blue Angles perform at airshows all around the country. Their show schedule and times can be found on their website, and videos of their demonstration can be found on YouTube as well as other sites.
